Eh, maybe. While weight is a concern for sure, it wouldn’t be prohibitive to carry a few extra batteries in case one was bad. Plus, anything battery operated could be tested on the ground before liftoff. It’s not like batteries have a significant failure rate to begin with.
I know advertising relies on people being stupid, but this almost too much.
Now if NASA was using Rayovac batteries off the shelf, that would be impressive.

I’m just saying that Rayovac custom building batteries for NASA tells me absolutely nothing about the batteries I would buy from Rayovac.
Agreed, other than they apparently knew a decent amount about making batteries.
Or they play golf with a senator or have a plant in a key district.
