Wait what? I haven’t played playstation for 20 years or so, but didn’t it have only 2 buttons at the back labeled L1, L2, R1, R2?

Clicking the analog sticks inwards presses buttons which were labeled as L3 and R3 respectively, but not visibly.

It was/is a common trend to bind sprint in games to L3, which I hate to this day.

L3 is clicking the left analog stick into the stem like a button, and R3 is clicking the right stick.

There was one mission in GTA 3 where you had to honk your horn outside of someone’s apartment and I just had absolutely no idea that there were L3 or R3 buttons on a PS2 controller. Hardstuck for days.

When I was a teen, I had a friend call me on the phone one Friday evening to help him beat a Donkey Kong Country level because he knew I had the Nintendo Player’s Guide.

We spent 30 minutes troubleshooting that shit. One of my best experiences as a child.
