I don’t see any chance in boycotts getting citizens out of this situation. The respect that they too are humans and of the same worth as the ruling class needs to be renewed.
Adding to this, voting with your wallet also seems to be just propaganda. How can you make a difference voting against much bigger wallets?

Boycotts are the most effective protests these days. They are so powerful that Australia and Israel tried to ban them, and the promotion of them.
Citizens are just consumers these days, so we have to use the loudest voice we can…our money.
