I do see the “less than 6 months old” resurgence of that image, extended with extra shit on the side that was clearly added much more recently my dumb, so that may be why you’re seeing it as slop, I’m guessing someone revived it with that slop.
ETA: this one is from 2023 and it’s the extended version, so not AI touch up either after all. Also has the artist name, Douglas Henderson, and it is in fact vintage art. So yeah, easy on the AI false positive.

As I said, I do check usually, but theres a lack of tools to do so, and the ones that are out there that I’ve found are checks notes AI, which defeats the purpose. If you have good tools, paste them here and I’ll start using them. I’m not going on a fucking Goose hunt each time I share a meme, though.
