Why do people say “spoopy” instead of “spooky”?

If it is because “spook is a slur” (if I recall correctly, tankies pushed for it because people read The Ego and His Own, and then the “nice spooks nerd!” meme happened), then will we renaming traps to be something else thanks to 4chan gay bamboozle jokes?
