Doesn’t sound like an “or”, sounds like a developmental issue.

I think it’s natural for everyone to go through a stage of questioning the meaning of life, but if your end answer is “I just wish I was a kid again/stupid so I don’t have to worry about it” then give failed to mature intellectually.

I agree that it could be brought on by child abuse or other trauma. I’m not trying to place blame on the individual, everyone’s circumstance is different. Either way, I think it’s sad, and I hope those people find a way to improve.
