At no point did he need to denounce the genocide, he just had to speak up internally and say “well that’s Macklemore’s opinion on it and I’m not going to stifle a fellow artist’s speech like that”.

Supporting Palestine is actually a far more popular sentiment than what the rich care to realise. They just don’t want to lose the wallets of tiny minority of 20% of bigots as potential customers. It’s like with many businesses complying with conservative backlash but end up losing more customers and revenue for bending over. Target complied with anti-DEI measures from Trump, while Costco didn’t. Guess which of the two got more customers. That’s why the accusations of “go woke, go broke” does not hold water at all.
