  • That’s not the issue. If it were confined to just the adult ones, anyway, it’d be little harm and no foul. The problem is these twerps also don’t vaccinate their kids, who have no say in the decision making process, and die of easily preventable diseases. The antivax crowd themselves also become disease carrying vectors putting those who can’t be vaccinated at risk, i.e. immunocompromised people.

If said morons contained themselves in their own cabins in the woods without coming into contact with the public it likewise would not be a problem, but inevitably you find them coughing all over everybody else at Walmart instead.

  • That, and even if you’re not considered part of whatever targeted group the current regime hates today, it doesn’t mean they won’t invent a new targeted group tomorrow that just so happens to include you.

This is before getting into all the false positive “identifications” of “criminal behavior” aimed at demonstrably innocent people e.g. as is already happening with the current Flock camera debacle.

No government has any legitimate reason to surveil its own citizens, and if any such excuse is generated to justify it in the beginning it is guaranteed to devolve into a tool of oppression afterwards. Once you give up rights there is no reality in which any government will voluntarily give them back.

  • Well, that and Apple is unique in the computer hardware world in having a horde of sycophants clinging to their coattails all the time, all just itching for a chance to argue with people over any perceived slight or insult to their chosen computer platform, of all the damn silly things. This makes it an awful lot of fun to razz them over it.

This is certainly down to Apple being a much more successful marketing company than computer manufacturer. For a significant portion of their customer base, the ownership of an iDevice is jewelry; a status symbol, or a token of inclusion among the “in” crowd. Its actual function is incidental.
