Ok. So to the matter of this article. The Princess Diaries came out in 2001. They’re suggesting that gender-affirming care was already common enough and good enough that an unknown actress could access it in the late 1990s and have it pass undetected?!
Honestly I think that’s harder to believe than anything I’ve read today.
I think another part of it is that good, successful comedy with broad appeal is so hard to do that anyone who can write comedy well can write pretty much anything. You have to be so story-smart that you can take those skills to almost any genre in a way that someone who’s good at superhero stories, for instance, might not be.
